January 7, 2002 Commentary

We are in the final stage of a two-stage recovery—the increased profits stage. The first stage was re-liquification. The increased profits stage is where money flow analysis must be supplemented with fundamental analysis. First hand knowledge of the ins and outs of corporate operations is a big help in determining potential profits. Another plus is to have connections. This allows you to contact those individuals with information personally. Finally, a must for all who seek to fathom the mysteries of corporate profiting, is to know how to ready the annual and quarterly business reports these companies publish. Analysts with a lot of friendly contacts are better positioned to determine profits than Johnny Come Latelys. If the dollar loses value in the near term, it will allow corporate profits to rise more quickly. I will be dropping TERN from this portfolio. It exceeded my stop loss point. I will replace it with UT Starcom Inc. (UTSI/NASDAQ).
